The one thing that can make you an asset for your team is playing smart, aggressive defense. To do this you must take your opponent out of their comfort zone. Here are 3 keys to playing great defense.
1. Deny your opponent the ball. It’s hard to score without the basketball. More importantly keeping the ball away from the other team’s scorers, minimizes their point production.
2. Force your opponent to their weaker hand. You learn this by watching how they play. Plus this makes playing defense easier for you because you’ve taken away your opponent’s strong hand.
3. Box out your opponent. This keeps the other team from getting the basketball. And it is hard work trying to fight through being boxed out.

Doing these things as a team will not only help your defense, it will also increase your chances of winning.
